“How to deal with stakeholders that refuse to follow the design process”

We all have been there.
When we facilitate a meeting or a workshop, we ask a question and for some reasons nobody is willing to answer or contribute. Here are some tips that might be helpful to deal with ‘silence’.

  • Be comfortable with silence. Use silent strategically to give people time to think.
  • Plan to have a co-facilitator prior to the session. When the silence becomes uncomfortable, strike a conversation with the co-facilitator to create more relaxing atmosphere.
  • Call on individuals name. As a facilitator give yourself power and authority to control the room and encourage individuals to contribute.
