‘Trust’ is an elusive concept.

Trust can be perhaps likened to the air. When it’s there, we don’t notice it, but its absence is certainly palpable. In the digital age, trust has become one of the the most important currencies that determines the success or fall of a business.

I had pleasure interviewing Philipp Kristian Diekhöner, author of ‘The Trust Economy’, who urges us to see trust as a tangible economic asset rather than as purely an elusive concept.  When we define economic value in terms of trust, we soon realise that this translates into a situation where the more trust we build as businesses, the more value we generate.

Our conversation transitioned into covering the intersect between trust and simplicity, and what role design thinking plays in trust building process. My favourite part of our conversation was crystallising that having a human relationship with a brand -rather than transactional one- will give businesses a competitive advantage.

I look forward to more dialogues to come on re-humaminzing the business world, but in the meantime, here are the highlights of the interview.
